Tshopo Province could soon benefit from new investments in the energy, trade, and infrastructure sectors. On Friday, a delegation of Romanian investors—led by Christian Dumitru, president of a bilateral diplomatic consortium and director of the company Novaterra Mining—presented several projects to Governor Paulin Lendongolia during a meeting in Kisangani, the provincial capital in the northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
“There are many opportunities for collaboration, particularly in electricity, commercial infrastructure, and water projects. We want to support the province across several strategic sectors,” stated Mr. Christian Dumitru.
Key topics of discussion included the construction of a photovoltaic power plant, a modern shopping center, and a cement plant aimed at fostering local economic development and job creation. According to Christian Dumitru, the talks with provincial authorities helped identify several priority areas where the investors intend to collaborate with Tshopo.

The Romanian businessman explained that the current mission focuses primarily on preparing the preliminary technical studies before the projects are actually launched. “The next step will be the arrival of experts to conduct field studies, analyze needs, and work with local teams to prepare the projects in accordance with established procedures,” he specified.
For his part, Didier Fwamba, the consortium’s legal counsel, noted that the provincial governor placed particular emphasis on the energy issue, which has become a major concern for the people of Kisangani as they face electricity supply shortages.
According to him, the investors are considering not only the installation of a photovoltaic plant but also a potential assessment of the existing hydroelectric dam’s capacity, with the aim of identifying complementary solutions to improve energy supply in the province.
The delegation also discussed a cement plant project, presented as a future driver of economic development capable of reducing unemployment and boosting Tshopo’s industrial capacity. No specific date has yet been announced for the actual start of work, as the parties are awaiting the findings of the technical and administrative studies scheduled for the coming weeks.
